Obiogbolu: PDP Members Must Work Together to Reclaim Anambra

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Dr Alex Obiogbolu said that the members of the party need to work together to reclaim the Awka Government House it lost twelve years ago.

He stated this during an interaction with the Anambra State executive council of the party in Awka. Dr Obiogbolu noted that the party has lost three consecutive governorship elections in the state because of what he called imposition and impunity on the part of those managing the party in the past. He said time has come for the will of the people at the grassroot to be respected if the PDP hopes to make a headway in the November 18 Anambra guber polls.

Obiogbolu said that deep pocket should not be the only factor in politics as issue of credibility and competence should not be relegated to the background

“I am a team player and everyone of you here can attest to that. When the issue of party leadership was tearing the party, many of my colleagues left for greener pastures, others refused to identify with the PDP or defend the party but now that the storm is over, they are now rushing here to reap as usual where they did not sow”.

“We cannot afford to make the mistake of giving the party ticket to outsiders or else we become outsiders when they eventually take over the state and the party; it is imperative that we allow a known and committed person to fly the party’s flag in the governorship election.

“I am worried that people always refer to me as an unrepentant PDP man, for my insistence to remain in PDP despite overtures from people in other parties and the manipulations that trail my contests for the governorship ticket, but the truth is that whenever they run into any challenge, the know they have unfettered access to me and I get their problems solved,” he said.

Vincent Atuigwe, a former member of the House of Assembly and a member of the state executive, commended Obiogbolu for his commitment to the party and manner of his campaign.

Former members of the state executive and leaders of the party accompanied Obiogbolu on the visit to the state party leadership. They were Chief Francis Udeoba, Chukwudi Umeoba, Dozie Akunne, Chief Isaac Egbuonu amongst others.
