The Astro Turf field of Lead City High School, Onireke, Ibadan will host about 12 football teams across the state as the stage is set for the maiden edition of the Oyo 5-a-side football league among the corporate bodies and families across the state.
The event is scheduled to hold in all Saturdays and Sundays in August and September.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, the organiser of the programme, Sola Adewumi of footyfanz said it is necessary hold the programme in order to engage families in different kinds of exercises.
He stated that family members including mothers and children can also come around and participate in health talk, fashion show among others.
He said: “This is first of its kind 5-A-side football league organised competition which will help all families to have fun with children and engage in kiddies’ game as it not going to be football all alone.”
In his remark, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Yomi Oke, said this is one of his ideas saying: “This is a family event where there will be health talk, health checkup among other evens.”
The participating teams include; Access Bank, Skye Bank, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Oyo State Chapter, Oyo State House of Assembly, Oyo State Sports Council, Lead City, University College Teaching Hospital, Mauve 21 and Catholic Organisation of Nigeria team, among others.
