GEJ’s 2014 Confab Report Solution to Restructuring, Says Owie

A former Chief Whip of the Senate and current South South leader of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) Senator Roland Owie, has stated that the current agitations in the country that are overheating the polity, particularly restructuring, has been taken care of by the 2014 National Confab.

He stated this in an interview with THISDAY during the ADP’s NEC meeting in Abuja.
Owie said the report of the 2014 National Confab organised by former President Goodluck Jonathan is the solution to all the agitations in the country if passed into law.

He also stated that no matter the nature of all the agitations if they do not pass through the legislative process they cannot become laws.

“There is no point heating the polity over restructuring of the country, when the needful had been done by the Jonathan Administration with the last 2014 Confab”, he stated.

“I am aware that the National Assembly leadership has requested the Executive arm of the federal government to forward the 2014 Confab report to the NASS for the purpose of legislation.

“Nigerians should know that no matter the number of ad hoc confabs held, the number of zonal press conferences given, none of the recommendations can become legal until they pass through the legislative process to become laws.”
Senator Owie urged the Acting President Professor Yemi Osinbajo to forward the 2014 National Confab report to the National Assembly.

He stated that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) promised Nigerians heaven on earth in their manifesto, advising the party to leave up to the expectations of Nigerians.

“I urge the Acting President of Nigeria, whose party APC promised Nigerians heaven and earth in their manifesto and during their campaigns, to urgently forward the 2014 Confab report to the NASS for legislative action”, he added stated.
