First Bank Basketball Club and Dolphins, both of Lagos started the 4th stage of the Zenith Women Basketball League on a bright note in Ibadan on Saturday.
The defending champions were in devastating form as they whipped First Deepwater 102-62 in Ibadan while Dolphins also defeated AHIP Queens 98-81.
Both sides are yet to lose a match in the series and they are tipped as favourites to meet in in the Grand Finale in Lagos later this month.
In other matches, IGP Queens defeated Plateau Rocks 54-44, Sunshine Angels pipped Delta Force by just two points in a 67-65 victory, Customs defeated GT 2000 60-53 while Benue Princess managed to get the better of FCT Angels 56-54.
Sunday was observed as a rest day with hostilities expected to start again today with another round of seven games at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.
It was learnt that due to the complaints from the players and officials, the competition may be moved to the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan from today.
The Day 2 fixtures of the competition will see Benue Princess clash with Plateau Rocks, Sunshine Angels take on GT 2000, First Bank will be up against FCT Angel, Dolphins will also clash with Delta Force, IGP Queens will take on First Deepwater while Customs and AHIP Queens will tango for honours in the last match of the day.
Six of the 14 teams currently competing for honours in Ibadan will be dropped as only eight teams will make the Grand Finale billed for Lagos.
