The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Mr. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, has resigned over allegations of misappropriation of funds.
The resignation letter tendered by RurumÂ on MondayÂ was unanimously accepted by the members of the Assembly.
Meanwhile, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata of Fagge constituency has emerged as the new speaker.
However, a former speaker, Hon. Abdul’Aziz Garba Gafasa representing Ajingi constituency, was elected as the majority leader of the Assembly.
Gafasa served as Speaker during the administration of Malam Ibrahim Shekarau.
