Anambra 2017: Nwobodo Heads APC Governorship Committee

The zonal leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a committee to champion the election of an Anambra State governor from the party in the November 18 governorship election.
The party revealed this at a press briefing held after a meeting of the zone which took place at the country home of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige.

The National Vice-Chairman, South-east of the party, Dr. Emma Eneukwu, who briefed journalists, revealed that the party settled for Dr Jim Nwobodo, former Governor of the old Anambra State as Chairman of the committee.

Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, Senator Emma Agboti, Ifeanyi Ararume, Senator Nkechi Nwogwu, Dr Cosmas Madugba and Gbazuagu Gbazuagu were also listed as vice chairman, secretary and members respectively.
Eneukwu said part of the terms of reference of the committee is to screen the aspirants on the platform of the party, and to ensure a rancour-free primary election for the party.

He added that the committee is also saddled with the job of sourcing and ensuring the availability of funds to prosecute the election and ensure victory for whoever emerges the party’s candidate.
The meeting was attended by all the big names in the party in the South-east geopolitical zone.
