Fire Engulfs Fuel Dump at Kano Airport

Two technicians were yesterday injured when the fuel dump at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano went up in flames at about exactly 7.40a.m., but there was no indication that it extended to the terminals.

Eyewitness accounts said they noticed thick smoke rising from the station and quickly notified firefighters, who rushed to the scene to quell the fire after raging for about 30 minutes.

Two technicians were injured while attempting to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the fuel station and other facilities at the airport.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) did not issue any statement as at press time, indicating that the fire might have affected flight operations or caused severe damage.
