Vehicular movement has been restricted in Yobe State to allow for the conduct of free and fair local government election.

The governor of the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam in a statement by his spokesman, Mallam Abdullahi Bego said that the vehicle restriction commences from 10pm on Friday (yesterday) till 2pm on Saturday (Today).

He said the restriction was part of measures to ensure adequate security for the Local Government Election taking place across the state on Saturday.

“The decision to restrict vehicular movement was taken following consultations with heads of law enforcement and security agencies in the state.

“Only vehicles on election duty or on other emergencies with valid clearance will be allowed to move during the period of the restriction”, he said.

Gaidam called on all registered voters throughout the state to participate actively in the election and use the opportunity to elect candidates of their choice to lead at the local government level.

He also called for peaceful and orderly conduct as people go to the polls.
