Police Arrest Suspect for Killing APC Chieftain in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested an armed robbery suspect, one Dolapo Olajiru, for stabbing and killing a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his Ikorodu residence.

The deceased was said to have been stabbed during a struggle with the suspect and his own personal driver at his residence at Shakiru Oleko Street, Agric, Ikorodu.
The victim, Ogochukwu Nwosu, a one time candidate of APC for Abia North Constituency in the 2015 general election, also doubled as the Chief Executive Office of Idife Investment Limited.

Although he was rushed to the hospital afterwards, the victim died hours later in an undisclosed hospital in Lagos.

In his confessional statement, the victim said: “I never knew that the house belonged to a politician. I was not contracted by anyone to kill him.
“I came out that day around 2a.m. looking for any house to rob. I spotted the building, I was attracted to it by its big gate.

“I entered the compound by jumping over the fence, but unfortunately I landed on top of some empty plastic creates stacked by the side of the fence.
“It was the noise made by the fallen creates that woke the man and his driver up. I sighted the man coming out of the house from the back door, I quickly docked behind the crates.

“I was thinking that he will go back but on the contrary, he came towards where I was hiding. I grabbed hold of him in the dark and we started struggling. I had a knife and I stabbed him on his hand.

“I thought he will let go, rather he held on to me tight. He was very strong and we continued to struggle. I stabbed him the second time, but he still held me down.
“At this point, a second man emerged from behind the crate and grabbed me. The two of them tied my hands and legs with a rope. The man later fell on the ground. I thought that he fainted.”

THISDAY gathered that it was the driver, identified as Obinna, that took the deceased to the hospital after the suspect had been handed over to the police at Owutu Division.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer,
Dolapo Badmos, said it was an armed robbery case.
She said the matter had been transferred to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba and is currently being investigated.
