About 152 Nigerians were brought back from Libya yesterday evening through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
The deportees, according to sources, stated that they voluntarily returned to the country on their own accord but it was recorded that some of them had tried to make their way to Europe, although unsuccessfully.
It was learnt that the deportees arrived on board a Libyan Airline aircraft, an Airbus A330-200 with registration number 5A-LAT.
As at the time of filing this report, the statistical breakdown of the returnees was still unknown.
On August 23, 2016, another batch of 241 Nigerians arrived the Murtala Muhammed International as voluntary returnees from Libya.
Like in the past, the flight of the latest returnees was facilitated by the International Organisation for Immigration (IOM).
The deportees were documented on arrival at the cargo wing of the Lagos international airport by officials of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
