Police, Vigilantes Nab Robbery Gang in Taraba

Taraba state police command, in conjunction with a renowned vigilante group, Tabital Pulaaku Njode Jam, on Saturday arrested four members of a robbery gang that has been operating in Bali local government area of the state and its environs.

The suspects, who are part of a seven-man gang, were arrested following a tip off while carrying out an operation along Sansani/Nafada road at about 3.00pm.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Yakubu Yunana Babas, who paraded the suspected robbers while briefing newmen in his office on Sunday, said he got an information at about 2.30pm on Saturday that Sansani/Nafada road had been blocked by armed robbers.

According to him, he quickly called the DPO of Bali to mobilize his men and go to the area to clear the road of the robbers which they did successfully in conjunction with the vigilante group.

He revealed that two single barrel guns were recovered from the bandits whose names he gave as Nadabo Abubakar (19), Abubakar Abdulkadir (23), Ahmed Musa (20) and Riga Rabo (27) all native of Bali local government.

Babas further stated that the suspects voluntarily confessed to the commission of the crime including the other operations they carried out previously before meeting their waterloo.

The CP however citizens of the state to always come forward to give credible information about criminals in their midst just as he assured that such information would be treated with utmost confidentiality.

In the same vein, the state chairman of the Tabital Pulaaku Njode Jam vigilante group, Alhaji Muhammadu Gongola to assist and cooperate with the group by providing useful information on criminals to enable them provide such
information to the police for necessary action.
