Police Interrogate Suspected Kidnappers of House of Reps Member

. Gangsters admit collecting N10 million ransom

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Thursday interrogated Haruna Adamu, Shaibu Adamu and Abubakar Saidu alleged to be brains behind the kidnapping of Hon. Sani Bello, a serving member of the House of Representatives from Mashi/Dutsi constituency.

Bello was kidnapped on August 2 from his farm at Gobirawa village at Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna state along Kaduna-Abuja road. He was said to have been released on payment of N10 million as ransom.

The Force Public Relations Officers, DCP Donald Awunah, while parading three of the suspects on behalf of the acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, in a press briefing in Abuja, said the notorious gang was rounded up at Ungwan Kawu village in Dan Dumi LGA, Katsina state.

While the suspects admitted collecting N10 million as ransom from the lawmaker, only N250,000.00 was recovered from one of them. Also one Gione phone, used for negotiation was recovered from the gang, as exhibit.

The N250,000.00, according to Idris was buried in the ground in the bush at one of the suspects village. The other members of the gang who are still being trailed are still at large with their loot.
