Next-Gen 2018 Audi A7 Spied for the First Time

Spy photographers have caught the next-generation 2018 Audi A7 testing for the first time.

The photos, which are blurry because they were caught from a long distance, don’t allow us to see a great amount of detail, but we can see that the “coupe” sedan retains its fastback design and is wearing Audi’s new singleframe grille and sharper headlights. The size will likely remain the same.

In typical Audi fashion, don’t expect the exterior of the new A7 to look dramatically different from the current model. The 2018 Audi A7 will likely get a more muscular and streamlined look, but the more dramatic changes will be under the sheet metal.

The next-generation Audi A7 will be built on the “MLB evo” platform that underpins the excellent Audi Q7 and will also be used on the next A8. This means that we can expect the A7 to shed some weight and gain some power and better driving dynamics, as well as post better fuel economy ratings.

We can expect similar engine options to the current model: a supercharged 3.0-liter V6, a turbo V8 in the S7 and RS7. Foreign markets will likely get a diesel model, and some believe Audi will unveil a new plug-in version with this generation A7.
