Ijaw Group Condemns Killing of Soldiers in Bayelsa State

Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative (IPDI) has condemned the killings of soldiers, including an officer, in Nembe creeks in Bayelsa State.

The group therefore called on the people of Nembe to assist the security agencies in fishing out the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

According to a release signed by its National President, Comrade Austin Ozobo, IPDI described the killing of the soldiers as barbaric and criminal.

“As an Ijaw foremost group, we condemn the killings of innocent soldiers in the strongest term. This act is barbaric, obnoxious, unlawful, vexatious, provocative, odious and criminal.

“We want those criminals to be fished out without hesitation, they should be made to face the music of the law. We heard that the soldiers were just doing the national assignment when the criminals invaded them. We mourn the departed soldiers”, it added.

The Ijaw group urged the people of Nembe to aid the military and other security agencies with useful information to apprehend the gangsters.

It sympathized with the Nigerian Army over the loss of the three gallant soldiers in an active service adding “We also sympathize with their respective families and friends. We pray that may God almighty give the bereaves the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

IPDI urged the Federal Government to take adequate care of the families of the deceased soldiers since they died in active service to the nation.
