The United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), has commenced mid-year review meetings with officials of Adamawa State Government and other stakeholders on progress and challenges in the areas of its intervention in the state.
Dr. Abdulai Kaikai, Head, UNICEF Field Office in Bauchi, disclosed this in Yola while addressing stakeholders who attended the meeting.
He said that UNICEF provides assistance in education, health, nutrition, child protection, water and sanitation sectors in the state.
Represented by Mrs. Mairama Bukar, UNICEF Education Specialist, Kaikai said the meeting was called to review and identify key priority areas for the second half of 2016 and 2017.
Also speaking, UNICEF Communication Officer, Mr. Samuel Kaluu, said the mid-year review would also involve adoption of new approach that would enhance greater synergy and improve the methodology the organisation could access funds.
In his remarks, the Secretary to Adamawa State Government, Dr. Umar Bindir, reiterated the commitment of the government to partner with UNICEF to enhance its intervention in the state.
