2000 Trained Health Workers Abscond in Bauchi -Commissioner

Over 2,000 skilled health workers out of the 4,000 trained by the Bauchi State government have defaulted in their bond made with the government and absconded without serving the State.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Halima Mukkadas, revealed this on Thursday while answering questions from journalists during a one day journalists’ round-table organized by the Bauchi State Accountability Mechanism for Maternal and Newborn Health on Bauchi state 2015 Health Budget scorecard held at Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat, Bauchi.

According to her, “The 4,000 that were sponsored by the government were under a bond to serve the state after graduation and were also given automatic employment after the training but, unfortunately, 2,000 of them absconded without serving their bond with the state government.

The Commissioner also disclosed that Bauchi State is among the six states in the North East that will benefit from $125 million dollar Word Bank health Credit facility over the period of 5 years.
