Samsung, Softcom, Mountain Top Varsity Partner on Learning Solution


Samsung Electronics West Africa, alongside one of its information technology partners, Softcom, has collaborated with Mountain Top University to implement a mobile learning solution for teaching and learning within the university.

The collaboration will see Samsung and Softcom make available learning applications and tablets to the University while providing the security component that enables the University to enforce school policies on the tablets and still ensure that the students have access to relevant educational content.

Mountain Top University, one of the recently approved private universities in Nigeria, just admitted the first set of students numbering 300 into its undergraduate programmes.

Speaking on the collaboration, Vice Chancellor, Mountain Top University, Prof. Elijah Ayolabi said: “It is very important to us as an institution of higher learning to offer only the best to our students and what better way can we do so than to introduce the mobile learning program at the inception of this institution.

Mountain Top is an ICT driven institution and we are glad to have the opportunity to collaborate with the big players in the technology industry on the project. It is imperative that we get it right as a new institution and we are delighted and confident to be taking the right steps towards the right direction with the introduction of this mobile learning program.”

Director, Business to Business, Samsung Electronics West Africa, Olumide Ojo said: “Through the mobile learning program, the University is able to enforce school policies on the device of students by permitting access to only educationally relevant content per time. This program also guarantees time reduction in continuous assessment, easier class management, easy access to learning materials, and real-time collaboration by students from any location among other advantages. We are confident that this will change the face of learning in Nigeria.”

Ojo also commended the management of Mountain Top University for adopting the mobile learning program and infusing it into the school’s learning curriculum at this commencement stage of the university’s academic activities.

The mobile learning program is designed to create a more conducive and easily accessible learning environment for both teachers and students by providing educational content that can be accessed by any user in any location, thereby breaking learning barriers.
