The Sports Reform Committee set up by the Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung to restructure sports for effective development will be having its fifth retreat in Lagos today and tomorrow inside the boardroom of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC).
A statement from the committee said the first day will be a closed session for members while the Tuesday session will be an open one with three presentations from prominent sports resource persons in the private and public sectors.
Those penciled for the presentation include the Group Deputy Managing Director of Total Nigeria Plc, Ahmadu-Kida Musa; Adegoke Adelabu who holds a PhD in Sports Science and a former Chairman Vanguard Newspaper Editorial Board, Ikeddy Isiguzo.
Ahmadu-Kida will be speaking on “The private sector and sports in Nigeria: prospects and challenges” while Adelabu, a former Flying Eagles and Green Eagles player will present a paper on “Sports in Nigeria: a former competitor’s perspective.”
The third presentation by Isiguzo will dwell on “Sports in Nigeria: challenges and prospects.”
Members of the media, the statement further said, will be allowed to interview the resource persons after their presentations outside the boardroom.
Members of the Sports Reform Committee which has Godwin Kienka as chairman are: Babatunde Fatayi-Williams, Segun Odegbami, Col. Sam Ahmedu (rtd), Mary Onyali, Prof. Florence Adeyanju and Bola Orodele.
Others are, Yusuf Datti, Waziri Laminu, Kayode Thomas, Ademola Aare, Despan Kwardem and Ayo Olubato.
The committee is expected to submit its report on or before July 14.
