The strike called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) against subsidy removal by the federal government suffered a setback in Bauchi state as civil servants and traders failed to comply with the directive, particularly in the state capital.

THISDAY checks revealed that people were seen carrying out their normal duties peacefully in Bauchi metropolis while all the major markets, banks, schools and business centres all opened for business .

At the federal and state secretariats, workers resumed duty without any hitches even as policemen and other para-military personnel were deployed at the entrance of the two secretariats as well as carrying out patrols forestall any unforeseen circumstances around flashpoints in the state capital..
