Youth Attacked, Injured in Aladja Land Dispute

Monday Osayande in Warri

There seems not to be an end yet to the land dispute between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijaw communities in Warri South West Council of Delta State as an indigene of Aladja Community, Sunday Damijo, and Blessing Doghor were reportedly attacked by the suspected members of the opposing community.

The victims were said to have sustained severe injuries.

This is happening despite the peace accord the leaders of both communities agreed upon with the state Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, recently.
It was gathered that the incident occurred about 2.30pm on Tuesday when Sunday, a commercial motorcycle operator was conveying Doghor Blessing to the Ogbe-Ijoh Community Health Centre for medication.
One of the victims, Damijo, claimed that the suspected Ogbe-Ijoh youths allegedly attacked and injured them with bottles, cutlasses, knives, battle axe.
He said he had the courage to go to the community believing that the peace accord reached between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities was being  honoured.
