Pre-Assessment Workshop for Banks

The Inter-governmental Action Group Against Money Laundering in West Africa(GIABA), a Financial Action Task Force (FATF) style Regional body (FRSB), conducted a Pre-Assessment workshop for Nigeria in Abuja between the 21st and 24th March ,2016 in preparation for the 2nd round of mutual evaluation of Nigeria, based on the FATF recommendations. The level of performance of banks before, during and after the exercise could make or mar the evaluation and ultimately decide whether Nigeria could eventually be admitted as a full member of the FATF.

Speaking further on the event, Executive Secretary CCCoBIN, Mr. ’Sam Okoro said, ‘‘To support on-going efforts at adequately  preparing operating banks in Nigeria for the exercise and make sure all its members deliver on their obligations, the Committee of Chief Compliance Officers of Banks in Nigeria( CCCoBIN),is organising a three-day Pre-Assessment for all operating banks in Nigeria on June 14-16, 2016 at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Adetokumbo Ademola Victoria Island.
