Operatives of the Nigerian military on Monday arrested two high profile members of outlawed Boko Haram members that includes the killer and mastermind of Nigerian civil war hero, Major General Mamman Shuwa, at Hotoro General area of Kano.
One of the two high profile suspects is 25 years old Boko Haram preacher known as Ali Mohammed, a.k.a. Amir.
Parading the suspects before reporters at 3 Motorized Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Kano Bukavu barrack, the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Hamisu Hassan, revealed that the two suspects were picked up at their various hideouts in Kano.
Hassan said that preliminary investigations revealed that Mohammed Sani Nafiu masterminded the death of late General Mamam Shuwa in his Maiduguri residence on November 2nd 2012.
The Brigade Commander stated that a GSM phone and three hundred naira were recovered from Shuwa’s alleged killer, while a Golf car, and a total of twenty thousand naira was recovered.
He revealed that Ali Amir was a preacher of late Mohammed Yusuf’s sect in Baga, Borno State,adding that he reportedly led his followers to reinforce Boko Haram fighters during its encounter with security forces in 2009.
