FCT Minister Inaugurates Land Appeals, Petitions Committee

Determined to institutionalise the machinery for quick dispensation of justice in all land appeals and petitions in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, inaugurated a 10-member committee on Wednesday .

The FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye, who represented the minister, inaugurated the committee in his office to promptly address appeals and petitions from the public.

He said it was the intention of his administration to nurture and entrench the right machinery to address all land related petitions in FCT.

Bello reiterated that the inauguration of the committee was expected to mark the beginning of an end to injustice and impunity in the FCT Land Administration processes.

According to him, the committee is a Ministerial Inter- Departmental Committee of all relevant departments headed by a lawyer who is a deputy director.

He noted that the essence was to allow fair play and justice in the dispensation of such cases within a record time.

The minister added that the terms of reference are to investigate all land/property appeals and petitions submitted to the FCTA and duly referred to the committee, make recommendations for resolution of the appeals and petitions for the consideration of the Permanent Secretary and the minister.
