Custom Officers Kill Suspected Armed Robber

Some operatives of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) attached to the Federal Operations Unit, Ikeja, on Monday shot an armed robbery suspect, identified as Sunday Joseph, dead in Lagos.

The deceased was shot at Apena Street, off Unity Road, Ikeja, after he had successfully broken into some homes on the street and stole goods and some cash.

After his solitary heist, he was said to have tried to escape by jumping on rooftops given the crowd on the ground that tried to mob him,

The Customs officers who were on duty in that area were said to have gunned him down when all attempts to catch him proved abortive.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent of Police, said the incident was reported at the station by one Julius Obasohan.

She said, “Julius identified the suspect as Sunday Joseph, aged 32, when he came to the station and reported that one suspected robber by name Sunday Joseph.

“He reported that Sunday was found jumping from roof to another after trying to steal from some houses. An unknown custom men came and shot the suspect to death.”
