Tinubu Reinstates Finance Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Suspended Over Alleged Fake Agency

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reinstatement of M.S. Danjuma, the Permanent Secretary in charge of Finance (Special Duties) at the Federal Ministry of Finance, following the lifting of his suspension over an investigation into the activities of an alleged unauthorised government agency operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Olumuyiwa Enitan Abel, conveyed the presidential approval in a letter dated October 22, 2026, with reference number HCSF/3023/Vol.III/124.
According to a communication by the OSGF last night, Danjuma’s reinstatement took effect from October 21, 2026.
The Presidential directive has brought to an end Danjuma’s suspension, which was ordered on August 21, 2026, alongside two other permanent secretaries, following a report by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Under the reinstatement directive, Danjuma is expected to resume his official responsibilities immediately and discharge his duties in accordance with the Public Service Rules, relevant regulations and established ethical standards of the Federal Civil Service.
It would be recalled that Danjuma’s suspension arose from an investigation into the activities of an entity operating under the name National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office, allegedly promoted by George Buchi Nwabueze.
In its public briefing on August 21, the ICPC reported that the entity had allegedly been allocated office space within the OSGF without the requisite presidential authorisation.
The commission said the discovery emerged from its wider investigation into purported government bodies and suspected irregularities in the federal public service.
President Tinubu subsequently ordered the suspension of Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah, while also directing the arrest of Nwabueze.
The incidence formed part of a broader investigation into allegedly fictitious government institutions, following earlier concerns surrounding the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and other entities whose legitimacy had come under scrutiny.
