PLANTS AND FABRIC: Inside Adekunle Moshood’s Agronomic Approach to Sustainable Design

MOSH House of Fashion is developing a menswear approach centred on
natural fibres and low-impact processing.

Creative Director Adekunle Olalekan Moshood holds a background in Agronomy, with a focus
on plant science, soil health and natural crop fibres. This informs the label’s material selection,
which includes natural plant fibres, organic Adire dye methods and several other green
production techniques.

The brand’s collections apply this approach to tailored menswear, including suits and structured
trousers produced without synthetic blends or artificial stifeners.

In 2023, Moshood’s work was recognised with the Lagos Fashion Week Green Access Award
and a nomination as Sustainable Fashion Innovator.

His studio experience includes roles as Team Lead and Studio Manager at ATAFO in Lagos,
where he managed suit production lines, fittings and runway preparation, with responsibility for
fabric standards and quality control.

In addition to his eco-friendly production strategies, the judges considered Mosh Studio’s social
impact. The studio’s designs featured high material quality and after-sale repair services aimed
at extending the lifespan of their products. The studio’s green supply chain also garnered
interest from judges who noted Moshood’s work in connecting West African farmers and
weavers to the UK market.

The awarding bodies expect the awards to encourage more Nigerian designers and fashion
houses to develop a stronger dedication to fashion sustainability.
