Realwarripikin wins AFRIMMA Best Stand-Up Comedian award

Nigerian Comedian and Actor, Anita Alaire Asuoha, popularly known as Realwarripikin, has won the Best Stand-Up Comedian award at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA).
Realwarripikin emerged winner in the comedy category at the ceremony held in Dallas, Texas, where she competed against notable comedians including Basketmouth, Bovi, Godfrey, Eric Omondi, Trevor Noah, Patrick “Salvado” Idringi and Ty Ngachira.
The latest honour adds to the growing recognition of Realwarripikin, who has established herself as one of Nigeria’s prominent female comedians through stand-up comedy, acting and social media content.
Born Anita Alaire Asuoha, the comedian is known for her Warri-inspired humour, energetic performances and ability to draw from everyday experiences in creating comic content. She has also featured in several Nigerian films and entertainment projects, while building a substantial audience through her online platforms.
Realwarripikin began gaining wider attention through comedy skits and social media videos before making a stronger transition into stand-up comedy and mainstream entertainment. Her stage persona, characterised by her distinctive delivery and Warri-inflected expressions, has become central to her brand.
Beyond comedy, she has used her platform to speak publicly about personal experiences and challenges, while also participating in entertainment and philanthropic initiatives.
The AFRIMMA award ceremony also saw several other Nigerian artistes and entertainers receive recognition. Davido won Album of the Year for 5ive, Tems was named Best Female West Africa, while Ruger won Best Male West Africa.
Phyno won Best Male Rap Act, Fola was named Best Newcomer, Mercy Chinwo won Best Gospel, and DJ Tunez received the Best DJ Africa award.
The African Muzik Magazine Awards, founded in Dallas in 2014, celebrates African music and entertainment talents from the continent and the diaspora. Its categories span different African regions and genres, as well as comedy and other aspects of entertainment.
For Realwarripikin, the 2026 honour marks another international recognition for a comedian who has continued to expand her presence beyond Nigeria’s comedy scene into acting, digital entertainment and live performance.
