By Ugo Aliogo
Mytherapist.ng, a Nigerian digital mental health platform, has entered into a partnership with Ally Healthcare to provide mental health support services to the health maintenance organisation’s eligible subscribers.
Under the agreement, Mytherapist.ng will provide access to licensed therapists and mental health professionals through its digital platform and other agreed service channels, depending on subscribers’ healthcare plans.
The partners said the initiative is aimed at improving access to mental health services by offering confidential and structured support for individuals requiring professional care.
Speaking on the partnership, the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mytherapist.ng, Oluwaseun Raphael Afolayan, said the collaboration aligns with the company’s objective of expanding access to mental healthcare in Nigeria.
According to him, “This partnership is an important step in our mission to make quality mental healthcare more accessible to Nigerians. Ally Healthcare has built a strong reputation for providing comprehensive and affordable health solutions, and we are pleased to support their users with professional mental health services that are private, convenient and clinically grounded.”
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ally Healthcare, Ayoola Johnson, described mental health as an integral component of overall wellbeing, saying the partnership would broaden the range of healthcare services available to the organisation’s clients.
“This partnership with Mytherapist.ng reinforces our commitment to providing comprehensive and affordable health insurance solutions by giving our clients access to professional, confidential and high-quality mental health support,” he said.
The agreement also provides for onboarding support, service orientation, crisis response for critical cases where necessary, and periodic reporting on service utilisation and engagement, while maintaining the confidentiality of users’ personal information in line with applicable data protection requirements.
The partnership is expected to run for an initial one-year period, with an option for renewal subject to mutual agreement.
Mental health professionals have continued to advocate greater integration of mental health services into primary healthcare delivery, citing increasing awareness of the importance of psychological wellbeing as part of overall healthcare.
