OTAFEST Nigeria 2026 Strengthens Security as Ogun Police Commit Full Participation

Following Government Backing Through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Festival Organizers Engage Top Police Leadership Ahead of October 2026 Event

Abeokuta, Ogun State – OtaFEST Nigeria has recorded another major milestone in its preparations for the 2026 edition as the Ogun State Police Command pledged its support and participation towards ensuring a safe, secure, and successful festival scheduled for October 24, 2026.

The development comes shortly after OtaFEST Nigeria formalized its partnership and collaboration efforts with the Ogun State Government through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, further reinforcing the festival’s position as one of the state’s emerging platforms for tourism promotion, youth engagement, cultural preservation, sports development, and economic empowerment.

As part of its stakeholder engagement strategy, the OtaFEST Nigeria delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, at the State Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

The delegation was received by the Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni alongside two Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police, and other senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

During the meeting, the OtaFEST Nigeria team presented the vision behind the rebranded festival, highlighting its evolution from a local entertainment event into a national platform that combines culture, tourism, sports, commerce, and community development.

The delegation also introduced Tyson Kill (Sulaimon Olagbade), Africa’s Middleweight Boxing Champion and a serving police officer, who is proposed to headline the festival’s international boxing showcase.

The Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni commended the initiative and expressed satisfaction with the developmental objectives of OtaFEST Nigeria, particularly its focus on youth empowerment, sports development, tourism promotion, and positive community engagement.

In a significant show of support, the Ogun State Police Command pledged its commitment to the event and assured the organizers of robust security collaboration towards the successful hosting of the festival.

The Command indicated its readiness to work with the organizing committee on critical security areas including crowd management, traffic control, intelligence gathering, VIP protection, emergency response coordination, and public safety management.

Speaking after the meeting, Michael Adebowale Gomwalk, Executive Producer & Creative Director of OtaFEST Nigeria, described the engagement as a major confidence booster for sponsors, partners, exhibitors, and attendees.

“Security remains one of our highest priorities. Having received the goodwill and support of the Ogun State Police Command, we are further assured that OtaFEST Nigeria 2026 will provide a safe, professionally managed environment for businesses, tourists, government stakeholders, sponsors, vendors, and members of the public.

Our vision is to build a festival that not only entertains but also contributes meaningfully to tourism, economic growth, youth development, and the cultural visibility of Ogun State.”

Scheduled for October 24, 2026, at St. Michael African School Mini Stadium, Ota, Ogun State, OtaFEST Nigeria will feature a unique blend of cultural exhibitions, trade fair activities, Hall of Fame Awards, professional boxing, live entertainment, celebrity appearances, and tourism showcases.

With growing support from government institutions, security agencies, community leaders, and private sector stakeholders, OtaFEST Nigeria continues to position itself as a major cultural and economic platform capable of attracting thousands of attendees and significant commercial opportunities into Ogun State.
