A total of 1,700 Corps members deployed to Bauchi State by the management of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), for the 2026 Batch B Stream I service year, have been sworn in for the compulsory two weeks camping.

They were sworn in by the State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, represented by Justice Abubakar Yerima, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Wailo in Ganjuwa Local Government Area on Monday.

The Corps members were administered with the oaths of allegiance to the country and service to their fatherland.

While addressing the Corps members, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State challenged the Corps members to take the lead and advocate for national development and transformation.

Represented by Adamu Babayo Gabarin, Commissioner for Youths Development and Sports, Bala Mohammed urged them to take the noble call with utmost seriousness and commit themselves to achieving the scheme’s objective of national unity and development.

The governor said, “I encourage you to start contemplating the initiation of meaningful Community Development Service projects in your areas of primary assignment right from the camp.”

He added, “I believe this should occupy your thoughts and prevent you from engaging in inappropriate behaviors while in camp and during your service.”

Speaking earlier before the swearing-in exercise, Umoren Kufre, Bauchi State Coordinator of NYSC, said there has not been any serious problem as the prospective Corps members were participating actively in all camp activities.

He commended the display of humility, patriotism, loyalty and commitment of the prospective corps members since their arrival at the orientation camp.

According to him, “They have equally imbibed the regimented lifestyle in the camp and they are coping very well.”

He added that, “My dear Corps members, within the short time I have interacted with you, I have observed that you are willing and ready to serve our father land.”

Umoren Kufre stressed that, “I urge you to obey all the rules and regulations governing the orientation camp and in case you notice any irregularity, do not take the laws into your hands; always ensure that you follow the proper channel of communication to express your grievances.”

Umoren Kufre assured the Corps members that the NYSC management would ensure that the basic amenities they needed in the camp are provided for them, saying “your safety and comfort remain our utmost priority”.

He also commended the Bauchi State Government for its continuous support and intervention for the scheme in the state.
