Emmanuel Oloyede Targets 1,000 Skilled Technicians as Youth Development Efforts Gain Momentum

As conversations around youth unemployment and skills development continue across Nigeria, Emmanuel Oloyede is focusing on a practical solution: technical training.

The furniture fittings specialist, Technical Trainer and Sales Consultant at Blum Nigeria, has trained close to 100 technicians in furniture hardware installation and aims to increase that number to 1,000 by the end of the year through workshops, technical demonstrations, and industry partnerships.

Through Blum Nigeria, Oloyede works with technicians, installers, and furniture professionals, exposing them to globally recognized installation standards and modern furniture fittings technologies.

His training sessions combine theory with practical application. Participants are trained through practical demonstrations and hands-on installation exercises covering furniture fittings technologies such as Blum’s pull-out and lift systems. The emphasis throughout is on precision, process, and understanding the principles behind every installation.

“Technical competence is not just about installing a fitting,” he said. “It’s about respecting the process and understanding why precision matters.”

Part of Oloyede’s approach has been shaped by international exposure. He has visited Austria twice for technical and professional engagements at Blum’s global headquarters, where he gained firsthand insight into the systems, processes, and quality standards that underpin the company’s operations. Those experiences continue to influence how he structures training programs and mentors technicians in Nigeria.

The challenge he is addressing remains significant. Many furniture and interior finishing technicians in Nigeria enter the workforce through informal apprenticeship systems, often with limited exposure to structured training and internationally benchmarked installation standards. At the same time, demand within the construction, furniture, and interior finishing sectors continues to grow, driven by urban development and rising expectations around quality and finishing.

Participants who have attended Oloyede’s training programs describe his teaching style as practical and methodical. Beyond demonstrating installation techniques, he focuses on helping trainees understand the reasoning behind each process, with the goal of improving consistency, reducing installation errors, and strengthening long-term professional competence.
