Olajumoke Abegunde Earns Global Recognition for Humanitarian Impact
For Mrs. Olajumoke Abegunde, touching lives and driving meaningful community development have never been mere aspirations but a lifelong calling. Over the years, she has remained unwavering in her commitment to humanitarian causes, firmly believing that the responsibility of uplifting the less privileged should not rest solely on government shoulders. This conviction has continued to inspire her extensive charitable engagements both within and beyond Nigeria.
As the founder of the Jummy I Care Foundation, Abegunde has positively impacted thousands through targeted interventions aimed at vulnerable groups. Her foundation has provided humanitarian relief materials and social support to over 3,000 widows and elderly citizens across Ondo State, while also extending care to orphaned and vulnerable children through various outreach initiatives.
Driven by a passion for women’s empowerment, she has facilitated economic opportunities for more than 5,000 women by supporting income-generating ventures and providing seed capital for small businesses. Through these interventions, many women have attained financial independence and entrepreneurial stability.
A graduate of Criminology and Security Studies from the National Open University of Nigeria, Abegunde has equally championed youth-focused programmes, sponsoring essay competitions, entrepreneurship contests and leadership workshops across Ondo State to inspire a new generation of changemakers.
Her interventions have also extended to medical outreaches, orphanage support projects, Ramadan iftar programmes, Easter entrepreneurship fairs and feeding initiatives for underserved communities. For Abegunde, investing in one’s immediate environment remains essential to building safer, stronger and more prosperous societies.
Her impactful work recently gained international recognition in Canada, where her foundation partnered with the Habeeb Okunola Foundation and MakeMee Elegant Foundation to facilitate free skill acquisition programmes in Brampton during the Africa Invest Brampton Forum held from May 8 to 10. Participants were trained in practical creative skills including resin bag production, ornamental crafts, fabric printing and rhinestoning.
In recognition of her humanitarian efforts and dedication to entrepreneurship development, the Mayor of Brampton, Patrick Brown, hosted Abegunde and other delegates at his office, where he presented her with a personally signed and sealed certificate of appreciation for her outstanding contributions to philanthropy and community development.
Receiving the honour, Abegunde reaffirmed her commitment to expanding opportunities for women and youths, pledging to continue fostering growth, stability and entrepreneurship in communities across borders.
