US-based Akpua family commissions St. Ann’s Hospital Maternity Ward in Anambra
In a landmark act of philanthropy, the Akpua Family, resident in the United States, has commissioned and donated St. Ann’s Hospital and Maternity Ward to the Catholic Diocese of Awka at Samuel Akpua Memorial Complex.
The facility, located in Abba, Anambra State, is a legacy project of the Late Samuel Akpua family, created to immortalise his name through impactful service to humanity.
The project is being driven under the umbrella of the Samuel & Josephine Akpua Foundation, with Dr. Josephine Akpua serving as Grand Patron, Dr. Chike Akpua as Executive Director, and Mr. Ugo Akpua as President.

The Samuel Akpua Memorial Complex is equipped with modern healthcare facilities, including a maternity ward, dialysis centre, diagnostic and laboratory services, and outpatient care units. It is expected to significantly enhance access to quality healthcare for residents of Njikoka Local Government Area and surrounding communities.
Family representatives noted that the initiative reflects the enduring values of compassion, service, and community development upheld by the Late Samuel Akpua family. The official commissioning ceremony took place on April 25, 2026.
