GIG Mobility Nigeria has transitioned from its traditional transport system into a full-scale global mobility ecosystem, unveiling an integrated platform designed to redefine travel and customer experience.
Chief Executive Officer, GIG Mobility Nigeria, Dr. Enahoro Okhae, disclosed this at the company’s 2026 GIGM Product Conference in Lagos, where it launched a unified digital platform combining multiple mobility services.
According to Okhae the move marks a major strategic shift for the company, driven by rising customer demand for seamless and comprehensive mobility solutions.
“We are no longer just a company that moves people from Lagos to Benin. We are now a global mobility organisation. What we have built is an ecosystem where everything around travel sits on one platform bus transport, airline tickets, vehicle hire, tours, and soon hotels and insurance,” he said.
Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, who was represented at the GIGM product conference by Dr. Quadri Adebowale Adenike, underscored the importance of integrated mobility to tourism development and economic growth.
“Mobility is not just about moving from one point to another. It connects people to experiences business, culture, nightlife, food, fashion and enterprise,” she said.
She noted that fragmented and inefficient transport systems could hinder tourism and productivity, despite advances in technology.
“When movement becomes stressful or unpredictable, cities lose momentum especially in tourism. The future of mobility is integrated, and it requires collaboration between government, private sector and communities,” Benson-Awoyinka said.
She added that the state government would continue to promote collaboration through initiatives such as the Ethno-Mobility framework to align policy with innovation and ensure inclusive mobility.
She commended GIG Mobility’s initiative, noting that such platforms can improve travel efficiency and enhance tourism experiences.
Giving details of the integrated platform, Okhae explained that the platform would allow users to access a wide range of travel services in one place, eliminating fragmentation across the sector.
According to him, the transformation was inspired by consistent customer requests for broader mobility offerings beyond intercity bus services.
“It became difficult to keep telling people we are just a bus company. The demand was clear people wanted more, and we had to evolve,” he said.
According to Okhae the company has achieved a long-term vision to build a fully integrated mobility ecosystem that connects people not just to destinations, but to experiences.
One of the newly launched products, ‘HireX’, is a digital marketplace that connects users with verified vehicle providers for short term and scheduled rentals. Product Manager, Charles Oloyede, said the platform was designed to democratize access to premium vehicles. “With HireX, users can access executive and luxury vehicles without ownership. Bookings can be made for a few hours or a full day,” he said.
The platform aggregates multiple providers, enabling competitive pricing while maintaining service quality through structured booking systems.
The second product, Premium Access Simplified Services (PASS), is an integrated travel platform that combines flight bookings, tours, visa assistance, and planned hotel and insurance services.
According to him, ‘PASS By GIGM’ integrates airline bookings, visa services, curated tour packages and other travel solutions into a single interface, positioning the company within the broader travel and tourism value chain.
He revealed that the company was advancing plans to deploy electric vehicles (EVs) for passenger transport, leveraging data from pilot projects conducted by its logistics arm.
According to him, the initiative will include the development of a nationwide charging infrastructure to support sustainable mobility.
“It is a big project. We are already engaging financial institutions and building a plan that spans across Nigeria,” he said.
