Team GTI Lifts Maiden Industrial Cup in Lagos

The maiden Industrial and Commerce Cup concluded at the golf section of Ikoyi Club 1938 Lagos over the weekend saw team GTI Group lifting the title with a cumulative 303 gross score.

Bayo Ali, former captain of the club was also the leader of the winning team spotting handicap 9.

Speaking at the prize presentation, he said it was an honour winning and credited  the victory to the team’s hard work and discipline.

“Being the winner of the inaugural edition of this event is beautiful. I credit the bond and the discipline of my team members for this win.”

The winning team consisted of Ali (9), Joachim Ebegue Afe (5), Abubakar Lawal (14) and Paul Tijani (11).

Promoter of the project, Pamela Wu, a passionate golfer and industrialist said she wanted an event that connects the two communities.

“ I believe a lot of industrial leaders need the public that golf attracts. This event is essentially an attempt to bring everyone together and stimulate progressive conversation through the game.”

Wu said golf can provide a platform to shaping critical discussions affecting industries and commerce at large.

The team representing AIAH Sausage Limited Company, Mayomile Orumgbeja (14), Ronke Iyiola (16), Toluwalashe Balogun (24), and Ademola Banu (23) picked the runner-up trophy with a total net score of 304, while Xpress Payment Solution Ltd represented by Babatunde Oyelami (7), Destiny Oyero ( 7), Diana Osmond (10) and Jimoh Ogunsote (8) shot a total of 307 to pick the third spot

Lagos State’s Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Folashade Kaosarat Ambrose Medebem highlighted the importance of the initiative and the position of the state government in providing robust platforms in driving commerce and industry 

She said the event ties to the vision of the government to make the state a hub of commerce on the continent.

She said Lagos still remains the best environment in Nigeria on the ease of doing business.
