Transcorp Commits $2m to Empower Young Entrepreneurs in Niger Delta, Across Nigeria
Transnational Corporation Plc (Transcorp Group) has strengthened its partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) as the Foundation unveiled 3,200 beneficiaries for its 2026 Entrepreneurship Programme. Each beneficiary will receive $5,000 in seed funding to start and grow businesses across Africa.
In the 2026 edition, Transcorp Group sponsored 625 entrepreneurs, bringing its total to 1,250 beneficiaries supported with over $2 million in direct investment since the partnership began.
Founder of the TEF, Tony Elumelu, said the initiative reflects a commitment to building Africa through entrepreneurship, stressing that empowering entrepreneurs remains a sustainable path to economic transformation.

President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Group, Owen D. Omogiafo, OON said the company’s investment underscores its commitment to host communities, particularly in Delta State, where its power subsidiary operates. She noted that 625 entrepreneurs were supported in a single year, describing it as a deliberate effort rather than coincidence.
She added that enabling individuals to create value helps address broader socio-economic challenges, noting that the partnership has now supported 1,250 entrepreneurs with about $2 million in funding.
The partnership prioritises host communities in the Niger Delta, where Transcorp Power Plc in Ughelli and Trans Afam Power Limited in Rivers State operate. Of the total beneficiaries, over 430 are from Niger Delta states, including Delta, Rivers, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Edo, Imo and Ondo.
In Delta State alone, 254 entrepreneurs have been empowered, with 240 funded in 2026.
Transcorp Group said its participation in the programme reflects its position as a purpose-driven corporate organisation. The company has a combined market capitalisation of about ₦5 trillion across its listed subsidiaries and more than 300,000 shareholders.
