The Abia Think-Tank Association (ATTA) has announced plans to hold its 2026 symposium in Lagos, on March 21, 2026, with a focus on evaluating the southeastern state’s preparedness to take advantage of Nigeria’s evolving economic landscape.
The event, scheduled to take place at Bola Memorial Hall, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja, Lagos, near Sheraton Hotels, would commence at 11:00a.m. prompt.
In a statement signed by the President of ATTA, Sam Ohuabunwa, the association said the symposium would hold under the theme: ‘Renewed Nigeria’s Economic Resurgence: Is Abia Prepared?’.
According to the statement, the gathering would examine how Abia State can position itself to benefit from Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms, investment inflows, and growth opportunities.
“The symposium will explore key policy frameworks, infrastructure development priorities, private sector partnerships, and practical strategies for achieving sustainable sub-national progress in Abia State,” the statement noted.
The Governor of Abia State, Alex Chioma Otti, is expected to attend as Chief Guest of Honour.
“His administration has been credited with driving economic reforms and development initiatives in the state, including the recently signed N1.016 trillion ‘Budget of Acceleration and New Possibilities’ for 2026, aimed at stimulating growth, reducing poverty, creating jobs, and expanding infrastructure,” it added.
The keynote address would be delivered by Uche Orji, former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority. The event would be chaired by Chuku Wachukwu, former Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment.
Other prominent speakers expected at the symposium include Ndubuisi Ekekwe, a Harvard scholar; Johnson Chukwu, Managing Director/CEO of Cowry Asset Management Limited; Uche Ogah, Chief Executive Officer of Masters Energy Group; and Sam Onukwue, Managing Director of Mega Equities Limited.
The Director-General of the Abia League of Professionals, Sonny Iroche, will serve as moderator for the discussions.
Special Guests of Honour expected at the symposium include Uma Eleazu, Anya O. Anya, and Ikenwachukwu Ihejirika, alongside members of the National Assembly from Abia State and other distinguished personalities.
Ohuabunwa said the symposium would bring together leading professionals, academics, and policymakers to generate ideas on how Abia State can become a key player in Nigeria’s economic renewal.
