Gov Idris Condoles With Maiyama LG Over Deadly Lakurawa Attack

Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has condoled with the people of Dadin Kowa in Maiyama Local Government Area over a deadly attack by suspected Lakurawa sect members.
The attack occurred on Wednesday night during Isha’i/Tarawih prayers at a mosque, claiming six lives.
The governor described the act as “barbaric and ungodly” and pledged his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies to ensure the safety of citizens.
In a condolence visit, Governor Idris assured the community of his administration’s support for security agencies, saying, “Security is one of the topmost priorities of this administration. We will do everything possible to support security agencies to curb crimes and criminalities in the society.”
He announced that military personnel and other security agencies have been mobilized to the area to prevent future attacks and ensure the protection of lives and property.
The governor urged citizens to support security agencies with credible intelligence, emphasising, “Together, we can restore prevailing peace in our communities.” He prayed for the souls of the deceased and urged their families, the Dadin Kowa community, and Maiyama LG to remain prayerful during this difficult time.
District Head of Andare, Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu, explained that the attack was likely a retaliation following recent successes by the Nigerian Army against Lakurawa sect members. He thanked the governor for taking immediate proactive measures to ensure the protection of lives and property in the area.
Alhaji Aliyu provided details of the attack, stating that three people died instantly, another three died at the hospital, and three others are currently receiving treatment.
The district head expressed gratitude to Governor Idris for supporting the families of the deceased and the injured victims.
