Ogbeyemi–Mizoguchi Scholarship Fund Bridges Nigeria, Japan Through Education, Social Impact
The Ogbeyemi–Mizoguchi Scholarship Fund is an emerging international education initiative linking Nigeria and Japan through a shared commitment to youth development, cultural exchange, and social impact. Founded by Nigerian sculptor Oladele Ogbeyemi and Japanese medical doctor Tetsuhiro Mizoguchi, the fund is built on a simple but powerful belief: supporting the potential of one young person can shape the future of many. Designed as a bridge of goodwill, the initiative combines education, art, and healthcare values to create long-term opportunities for students across both countries while fostering mutual respect and global collaboration.
At the core of the programme is its Nigerian scholarship arm, which focuses on supporting academically strong students facing financial barriers. In its first phase, the Foundation awarded scholarships to students from Ekiti State University (EKSU) and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH). Two final-year students from EKSU’s Department of Psychology and Behavioural Studies received ₦200,000 each. One beneficiary, John Janet Aleichenu, was recognised as the best student in her level for outstanding academic performance. The second, Ayodeji Ifedayo Glory (who was represented by Flora, the emeritus President of the department to receive her award), is a spillover student with good academic records whose inability to pay school fees had delayed her final examinations and graduation. The intervention was described by the department as timely and deeply impactful, restoring hope and academic continuity.
Simultaneously, three students from the School of Art, Design, and Printing at YABATECH were awarded ₦200,000 each in recognition of excellence across creative disciplines. The beneficiaries include Onifade Faruq O. (Best Student, Sculpture), Adeyiga Aderonke M. (Best Student, General Art), and Oyelade Oyewole T. (Best Student, Painting). Faculty members and students welcomed the initiative with enthusiasm, acknowledging the Foundation’s rare commitment to nurturing creative talent alongside academic achievement.

Beyond scholarships, the Foundation is extending its impact to community welfare through the planned donation of first-aid kits to primary education institution, reinforcing its holistic approach to education support.
On the Japanese side, the scholarship programme supports students in medicine, arts, and international studies through structured stipends and development opportunities, creating a balanced, two-country model of investment in human potential. With transparent governance, annual reporting, and leadership spanning both art and healthcare, the Ogbeyemi–Mizoguchi Scholarship Fund offers partners and investors a credible platform to support education, cultural diplomacy, and youth empowerment within a single accountable framework.
The Foundation is not simply awarding financial aid—it is building a living network of future leaders, creatives, and professionals across continents, united by opportunity, responsibility, and shared humanity.
