The Niger State Ministry of Works has said that at least 556 kilometers of road constructed by the administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago across the 25 local governments in the state have been completed and ready to be inaugurated.
A statement by the ministry made available to newsmen said the newly constructed roads will improve movement of goods and services across the state and also improve other economic activities.
This is one of the dividends of democracy promised by the present administration in the state, the statement signed by the Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Kabir Abbas, declared
“In the coming months, Niger State is expected to witness a significant transformation in its road infrastructure as contractors will deliver 556 kilometres of road projects alongside urban renewal initiatives” the Permanent Secretary said in the statement
Alhaji Kabir Abbas explained the projects are also designed to improve connectivity, enhance road safety, and reduce travel time for commuters while supporting economic and social activities.
He explained that other urban renewal projects are being executed according to schedule with some also being made ready for commissioning to mark the third year in office of the governor.
The Commissioner assured the public that officials of the Ministry led by the Permanent Secretary Alhaji Hassan Baba Etsu are leaving no stone unturned to ensure contractors deliver quality projects that will not only justify the huge investments but stand the rest of time.
He therefore charged the benefiting communities to take ownership of the projects in their respective areas and also tasked traditional rulers to put mechanisms in place for the good use of the projects.
