Onyedika Bags Man-of-the-Match  Award in the Uganda, Nigeria Clash

Raphael Onyedika has been named the official Man-of-the-Match after he netted twice for the Super Eagles to shoot down the Cranes of Uganda 3-1 in a final 2025 AFCON Group C clash in Fes last night.

The Club Brugge defensive midfielder struck twice in the second half after he was set up by Samuel Chukwueze as the Super Eagles crowned another dominant display to win their first round group with a perfect score of nine points.

He has now scored three international goals.

He thus becomes the third Nigerian player to win the official award after Semi Ajayi (vs Tanzania) and Ademola Lookman (vs Tunisia).

Uganda on the other hand, made unwanted  AFCON record of using three goalkeepers in the fixture against Nigeria.

The Cranes began the match with experienced Denis Onyango who had to leave the pitch due to a nagging injury. He was substituted by Salim Magoola.

Magoola was to leave the pitch in a bizarre circumstance. He was red-carded  for intercepting Victor Osimhen’s goal-bound ball after just 10 minutes. A player was substituted for their third choice goalkeeper, Nafianz Alionzi.
