Green Africa Appoints Bart Roberts COO

Green Africa, a Lagos-based value airline, has appointed Captain Bart Roberts as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), strengthening its senior leadership team as the airline advances its growth plans.
The appointment, announced yesterday through a statement, will see Capt. Roberts oversee Flight Operations, the Integrated Operations Control Centre (IOCC), Operational Safety, Airport Services and Training.
He will also work closely with the Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Babawande Afolabi, and other members of the senior leadership team in shaping the airline’s strategic direction .
According to the statement, “Capt. Roberts brings more than 40 years of leadership experience in global aviation. He joins Green Africa from Cirrus Aircraft in McKinney, Texas, where he served as Executive Director in charge of Flight Training.
“Before then, he was Vice President of Flight Operations at JetBlue, leading more than 2,800 pilots across the airline’s network. His career also spans 28 years at American Airlines, where he held several senior roles, including Chief Pilot, Managing Director of Flight Operations and Fleet Training Manager.”
Reacting to the appointment, Afolabi said the airline was pleased to welcome an executive with deep operational expertise at a critical stage of its evolution.
He noted that Roberts’ experience with leading global airlines would support Green Africa’s mission to deliver safe, affordable and reliable air travel at scale.
