In a resounding moment of international recognition, Usoro Offiong Akpabio was honoured with the prestigious AEMA Black Prize — at the just concluded African Economic Global Convergence (AEGC) 2025 Summit, held on the margins of the 80th United Nations General Assembly at The Yale Club of New York City.
Usoro, known for her outstanding commitment to business innovation, community development, and Africa-focused partnerships, was celebrated among a select cohort of transformational African leaders making waves on the global stage.
Simultaneously, the AEMA Black Prize, a prestigious continental honour conferred during the Summit Gala at the Yale Club and well received by Emeka Ndichie, celebrated her work in empowering youth, enabling inclusive investment, and bridging economic opportunities between Nigeria and Africa.
“Usoro represents the very best of Nigeria and Africa’s next-generation visionaries — bold, unrelenting, and continentally relevant. The award is a tribute to her work and a call to scale her impact even further,” said McEva Temofe, Convener of the African Economic Global Convergence.
The event, which ran alongside the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80), hosted distinguished dignitaries including global investors, diplomats, UN executives, African Heads of Government, and innovators. The summit’s overarching goal was to strengthen Africa’s global voice across sectors like technology, agriculture, energy, security, and youth entrepreneurship.
Usoro’s recognition serves as a rallying call for African excellence and continental representation at the highest levels of influence and innovation. As preparations begin for AEGC Malta and Beijing 2026, Usoro is expected to continue serving as a beacon for emerging leaders across Africa
