ABUJA, FCT — In a landmark ceremony scheduled for Sunday, 7 December 2025 at 11:00 AM, the Jiwa Emirate Council, under the authority of Alh. Dr. Idris Musa — Emir of Jiwa Emirate — will formally confer the title Tauraruwan Matan Kasar Jiwa (“ Shining Star Woman of Jiwa Land”) on Lois Andrew Ihwo. The ceremony will hold at the Government Senior Secondary School in Jiwa, FCT, and is expected to draw traditional rulers, government officials, distinguished personalities, community leaders and well-wishers.
The conferment of such a prestigious traditional honour underscores the Emirate’s recognition of Lois Andrew Ihwo’s extensive contributions to business, philanthropy, and community development. As founder and CEO of Deeutensils and Deescent Global, Ihwo has over the years built a reputation as a trailblazing entrepreneur in Nigeria’s kitchenware and lifestyle sectors, with expansive operations in Abuja and a pan-African customer base.
Her impact, however, goes far beyond commerce. Through her philanthropic vehicle, the Dee Ihwo Foundation, she has championed women’s empowerment, livelihood support for widows, education scholarships for underprivileged children, and health-related community interventions — touching hundreds of lives across Plateau State and the North-Central region.
In recent months, her efforts have garnered national and international recognition. In 2025 alone, she received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from American Management University California and was named “Most Inspiring Entrepreneur of the Year” at the 15th Peace Achievers International Conference and Awards. She was earlier honoured as “Abuja Female Entrepreneur of the Year” by Top 10 Magazine, and has received other awards for excellence in entrepreneurship and social impact. To add feather to her already feathered cap, she was honoured two days ago at the Business Day Newspaper Awards 2025.
The upcoming coronation as Tauraruwan Matan Kasar Jiwa reflects the deep respect and admiration for her achievements, particularly her blend of business acumen and humanitarian commitment. In inviting dignitaries and community members to the event, the Emirate Council emphasised its intention to give the ceremony the grandeur and prestige befitting the title — enriching the cultural heritage of the Jiwa community while celebrating modern leadership, service and female empowerment in the Federal Capital Territory.
Many are already describing the occasion as more than an honour, a statement on the evolving role of traditional institutions in acknowledging and uplifting contemporary contributions to national development and social welfare.
