The multitalented rapper started off the year on a high note. He dropped a drill-inspired track titled Grrr! earlier in February, a song that revealed the gritty side of him, especially highlighting his struggle returning and navigating the streets of Lagos. All indications showed that Jaye IV was ready for an energetic trajectory. It is no surprise that LeakTape II showcases his most hip-hop side yet.

The 4-track extended play adds three new songs to the existing Grrr! The second track, Sticks n Carrot, has quickly become a fan favorite, showcasing an elite rap cadence over a crisp and simplistic instrumental. Real Gees sheds light on street experiences, community realities, and his personal ideology on how the “real ones” move. The Afro-swing jam is a blend of fine melodies and some of the wittiest storytelling we have heard from him in a while. Track 4 delivers an alternative hip-hop feel, with Jaye touching on themes of intimacy, vulnerability, and emotional unavailability, giving listeners a more reflective side of his artistry.

As many of his fans know, the first LeakTape was released in 2020. “This second one completes the story,” Jaye said. “I like the idea of creating my works like a series; it helps keep an open philosophy, so I get to talk about the same things but from different views.”

The Lagos-born rapper continues to personify artistic ingenuity, always revealing a different side of himself when the audience least expects it. Drawing from his experiences in two worlds, Lagos and London, Jaye IV channels discipline, honesty, and raw emotion into his music, refusing to conform to trends while still sounding current and deeply intentional. In today’s seemingly saturated music market, Jaye IV’s music filters through the noise to convey thought, authenticity, and purpose.

Whether he is laying a catchy hook, piecing together a standout melody, or crafting those witty 16s, one thing remains certain: Jaye IV is not just making records; he is building with depth, character, and replay value. His journey feels like one unfolding in real time, and with LeakTape II, he reminds listeners that great storytelling does not just entertain, it connects. And right now, Jaye IV sounds like an artist fully in motion.
