Data Guru Backs Tech-Led Collaboration as Nigeria Seeks Smarter Counterterrorism Tools
Data Addicts LLC, led by its CEO John David, says Nigeria can dramatically improve its counterterrorism operations by deepening collaboration between government security agencies and private tech innovators.
Responding to fresh discussions on modernising Nigeria’s security architecture, the company outlined key strategies through which data-driven firms can support the government in tracking and disrupting terrorist movements.
According to Data Addicts, a stronger partnership would enable secure data integration, allowing intelligence agencies and vetted tech firms to build unified datasets on terrorist activities. The company also highlighted the role of big data analytics and machine learning in detecting suspicious patterns, identifying networks, and monitoring movement trends in real time.
The firm further recommended deploying AI-powered surveillance tools, including biometrics and anomaly detection systems, at borders and public areas to enhance identification capabilities. It added that predictive intelligence models could help forecast potential attacks and hotspots, enabling proactive deployment of security forces.
David emphasised the need for capacity building, noting that private-sector expertise can equip government personnel with advanced analytical skills. He also underscored the importance of ethical safeguards to ensure privacy and compliance with national and international laws.
Data Addicts says a balanced partnership government oversight combined with private innovation offers Nigeria one of its best opportunities to outpace terrorist networks using modern technology.
