A political management consultant, Mr Joe Korka-Waadah, has called on the Canadian Government to grant asylum to Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, the clergy who exposed the alleged killings of Christians in the Northern parts of Nigeria.

Dachomo, a clergy based in Plateau State and Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi, has been in the news for the past months, following his cries for intervention in the gruesome killings of Christians and destruction of church properties in the northern areas.

He told journalists in Jos on October 24, that Islamic extremists have allegedly marked him for assassination for calling on the Nigerian and United States  governments to help protect Christians against genocide.

In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister of Canada, the Ogoni-born Canadian-based Korka-Waadah, stated that despite the alleged threats, the clergy was bold to speak out and revealed the crime in the part of the country with viral videos of killed victims and destroyed church properties.

The letter titled, “A passionate plea for resettlement: Asylum for Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo”,  was also copied to Speaker of the House of Commons, Leader of the Official Opposition, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Immigration in Canada.

Korka-Waadah who is the Executive Director, Compassionate Heart Foundation of Canada, pleaded with the Canadian government to also ensure that Dachomo’s family members are relocated from Nigeria.

He wrote: “I humbly write to draw your attention to ongoing killings of Christians in the northern part of Nigeria and particularly that of Plateau state.

“Recalled  that a couple of weeks ago, the Acting Leader of His Majesty’s official opposition tabled a motion in the House of Commons on this very burning issue of Christian genocide in Nigeria.

“On that note, I wish to make a special appeal that Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, who has echoed the loudest over his kinsmen being slaughtered in their hundreds desires to be considered and

granted asylum in our country as he is being hunted by terrorists like wild animal in his state.

“The reason is that an anonymous terrorists group has predicted that he has been marked for assassination due to his stance against the killing of Christians in his state of Plateau.

“The crime of this reverend gentleman is his boldness to speak out, which went viral online in a video to expose these acts of genocide to the world.

I wish you could use the instruments of your office to ensure that Reverend Dachomo and members of his family are removed immediately from harm’s way and be resettled here in our safe country.”
