Africa Agility Launches ‘Edugility’ Programme to Foster Efficient Learning in Lagos Schools
Africa Agility has launched its “Edugility” programme in Lagos marking a significant step towards enhancing efficient learning among students.
The pilot programme which began with Education District IV held at Obele Senior High School, Surulere, Lagos, and was attended by a cross-section of students from schools within the District.
The Edugility initiative, a term derived from “Education” and “Agility,” aims to integrate agile methodologies into the classroom. The programme is designed to help students not only excel academically but also acquire essential soft skills, adapt to change, and engage in continuous learning.
A representative of Africa Agility, Rachel Ogaji, speaking at the launch said that the programme focuses on creating adaptive learning environments that equip students with critical thinking and collaboration skills.
“The idea behind Edugility is to catch students while they’re young by incorporating technological skills and agile skills into their daily lives,” she said.
She added that the launch is a pilot for a continuous series of events, including planned student and teacher conferences.
On her part, Project Director for Africa Agility, Anthonia Adeniyi, emphasized that as the world is rapidly changing, education needs to be agile, adaptive, and innovative and the Africa Agility EduGility Initiative embodies this spirit, empowering students, teachers, and schools to thrive in an ever-evolving landscape.
“This initiative will foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, equipping our young minds to tackle Africa’s complex challenges,” she explained.
The Chief Education Officer, Education District IV, Mr. Olanrewaju Lateef, applauded the organizers for their positive impact on school children in District IV noting that the partnership aligns with advancing Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which focuses on quality education.
“This is beyond the four walls of the classroom but includes co-curricular activities that encourage creativity and innovation,” Lateef said.
A total of 10 schools were represented at the launch with 76 students and 12 teachers. Eight volunteers from Africa Agility were also in attendance.
A student from Lagos City Senior College, Ayinla Oluwadarasimi, described the programme as “impactful,” echoing the sentiment of many attendees.
