Carex and Lagos State Ministry of Environment Champion Hand Hygiene in Schools for Global Handwashing Day

As the world marks Global Handwashing Day on October 15, Carex, in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, embarked on an inspiring outreach to schools across Lagos teaching students one life changing lesson: being a hero can be as simple as washing your hands.

This year’s theme, “Be a Handwash Hero,” came to life as Carex team visited primary, junior, and senior secondary schools, engaging students through interactive sessions and live handwashing demonstrations. The goal was to help young Nigerians understand that clean hands save lives

From the laughter of pupils learning to sing through their 20-second wash, to the proud smiles of those who pledged to be handwashing heroes, the sensitization reminded everyone that heroes aren’t born wearing capes; sometimes, they’re armed with soap, water and Carex

Speaking at the event, a representative from the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment noted, “Good hygiene habits start early. When children understand the power of handwashing, they not only protect themselves but also their families and communities.”
