Hayes and Wokkah Partner To Upskill African Youth in AI for the Second Edition of Project Enable I.T. Bootcamp
By Tosin Clegg
No fewer than 200 young Africans from Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Kenya, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada have completed the second edition of the Project Enable I.T. Bootcamp, organized by the Hayes Initiative for Educational Advancement (Hayes) in partnership with Wokkah.
The transformative four-weekend program, which builds on the success of its 2024 inaugural edition, was designed to equip young graduates and early-career professionals with practical skills in artificial intelligence, automation, and low-code innovation—key competencies driving the future of work.
Participants were trained in critical areas including Business Process Automation (BPA), AI agent deployment, low-code/no-code workflow design using tools like n8n, Make, and crewAI, as well as a capstone project that required them to design and present a real-world automation solution.
Speaking on the milestone, Oyinkansola Oni, Founder of Hayes, described the initiative as a defining moment in the organization’s mission to close Africa’s widening digital skills gap.
“Our partnership with Wokkah is helping us transform curiosity about AI into competence,” Oni said. “We’re building a generation of young innovators who are not just employable but ready to shape Africa’s digital future.”
Echoing her sentiments, Iyanu Odebode, Co-Founder of Wokkah, emphasized the broader impact of the training.
“Africa’s youth are the backbone of its digital transformation,” Odebode noted. “Through this Bootcamp, we’re not only transferring skills but enabling young people to create solutions that can ripple across industries and communities.”
The Bootcamp was completely free, supported by Hayes’ donors and partners, and featured mentorship sessions, guided practice hours, and certification upon completion.
The Hayes Initiative for Educational Advancement is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young people with digital, entrepreneurial, and leadership skills for global relevance. Wokkah, a technology company with operations across Africa and the U.S., focuses on digital transformation and workforce empowerment through AI-driven solutions and training programs.
The Project Enable I.T. Bootcamp continues to stand as a beacon of hope for Africa’s emerging talent—arming a new generation with the skills, confidence, and creativity to power the continent’s next wave of technological innovation.
